NEET TO BE HELD ON SUNDAY, SUPREME COURT REJECTS REQUEST TO DELAY THE EXAM

As the Supreme Court rejected the application for the postponement of the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test- Undergraduate (NEET-UG), medical applicants took to social media to express their disappointment. The examination will be held on September 12 as announced by the High Court.

 

The court rejected the application of a large number of students who were satisfied that the entrance exam would conflict with other exams, saying that “more than 16 lakh students take NEET. It will not be postponed at the request of a few students."

 

The whole system cannot be converted by 1% of students, The Live Law added.

 

“We are not happy with this request. We do not want any uncertainty. Let the exams continue” bench comprising Justice AM Khanwilkar, Justice Hrishikesh Roy, and Judge CT Ravikumar added.

 

The petition filed by Advocate Sumanth Nookala sought to dissuade the public from finding out that NEET UG 2021 is being planned for September 12 as “manifestly arbitrary and im violation of Article 14

of the Constitution of India."

 

While hearing the submission made by the NTA's counsel on September 3, the bench verbally told the petitioner's counsel: “Your complaint is that some exams will begin and your results will not be announced. The relief claimed is unnecessary as authorities say you will be permitted to appear."
