Courses Description

Veterinary sciences deals with the diagnosis and treatment of various animals and birds. The prime responsibility of a veterinarian is to look after the health and welfare of animals and birds. It is quite similar to the human medical sciences. People in Rural as well as urban area are keeping pets now. So, there is a huge demand in India for a Veterinarian. For this reason many students are pursuing for this course.

  • BV. Sc. in Animal Genetics and Breeding

  • BV. Sc. in Animal Production & Management

  • BV. Sc. in Veterinary Surgery & Radiology

  • BV. Sc. in Veterinary Medicine, Public Health & Hygiene

  • Master Courses:

  • Master of Veterinary Science (M.V.Sc) – 3 years

  • MV. Sc in Veterinary Medicine

  • MV. Sc in Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology

  • MV. Sc in Veterinary Surgery & Radiology

  • Doctoral Courses:

  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Veterinary Medicine

  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Veterinary Pathology

  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology

Candidates after passing 10+2 in science stream with Biology as a subject can apply for the course.  Admission process can be done through national level entrance exams such as All India Pre Veterinary Test (AIPVT), All India Common Entrance Examination (AICEE), Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University Entrance Test, etc. After completing Bachelor of Veterinary Science candidates should register with State Veterinary Council to start practicing as professional ‘Veterinary Doctor’.

FUTURE & SCOPES:

Veterinarians are highly demanding in countries like Canada, US and many more. The future scope of veterinary science is large and is growing faster in this modern world. The job of veterinarian is not just limited to healing the illness of animals but it is majorly distributed into research work also. Veterinarians also carries out research on how diseases can spread from animals. So, We can say, they have the responsibility of both human being and animal. They should provide education and suggest the pet owners about general medical care and routine vaccines of animals. Their job duties include treat and heals the wounds of animals. The government also employs veterinarians as public health officer whose services are utilized in zoos, national parks, sanctuary etc.
