  • 18 October 2019

In a letter to the Health Ministry, a Board of Governors(BoG) associated with the Medical Council of India(MCI) proposed that all post graduate medical students must serve in district hospitals for at least 3 months. Students will have to work in the designated hospitals, and only open completion they may appear in their final examination.

Students who are pursuing post graduation in community medicine may be posted at the primary health centers and field experience while also serving at the district hospitals.

Students currently work in primary health centers or urban health centers for 3 months as a part of a compulsory rotating internship.

The BoG has also asked the Heath Ministry to have guidelines developed for the implementation of the proposal. They have also pushed to have this proposal implemented by the next academic session.
