Karnataka’s Govt Launch Scheme for SC/ST Students to Study Abroad
It was a time when overseas education is just a dream for SC/ST but the Karnataka Govt has taken a strong move for better education for our society with scheme called Prabuddha. Meritorious SC/ST students heading overseas for higher education will now have their entire cost covered by the state government under a scheme called Prabuddha that was launched on Friday. Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara and Social Welfare Minister Priyank Kharge shown green flag to this acheme, under which the government plans to fund at least 400 students annually at a cost of Rs 120 crore.
SC/ST students who have cleared Graduate Record Examinations (GRE), Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), Scholastic Aptitude/Assessment Test (SAT) and other qualifying tests, are eligible to be covered under the Prabuddha scheme.

The Social Welfare department of KA has made it clear that the Prabuddha scheme will allow students from SC, ST and other vulnerable communities to continue their undergraduate, post graduate and PhD programmes in abroad at minimal cost or no cost.
The Prabuddha scheme will cover the student’s entire course fees, accommodation expenditure and airfare to the country in which the student is pursuing their studies and books.
