AICTE Raps College Sri Krishna Institute of Technology (SKIT)
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has pulled up Sri Krishna Institute of Technology (SKIT), Bengaluru for allegedly producing fake faculty and salary statements.
AICTE had received a complaint against the college which was allegedly showing fake names as faculty members and not paying salary as per norms. The AICTE standing committee had summoned both the complainant and the college before it for an inquiry on November 14. The college was unable to explain how the mistakes had crept in, but promised to submit an amended salary statement.
Making a false statement is a serious offence and cannot be taken lightly unless the college explains it properly, AICTE said in the communication to the college. AICTE has asked the college to submit its reply with supporting documents to the committee that is meeting on January 9.
"This is between AICTE and the management of SKIT. We are checking where the mistakes has happened and also who has brought up this issue on social media," SKIT Principal A Manjunatha Said.
Like SKIT, several other institutions are under the AICTE scanner for seeking forceful resignation from faculty and harassment. "Colleges, which has sought permission for increased intake citing the strength of teachers, are now forcing teachers to resign. Some have removed 20-40 teachers on one go, claiming they don't have enough admissions to give their salary", said Karthik KM, President, All India Private College Employee Union.
